Introduction

Over 70 Years Of Excellent Dental Care in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Our practice was founded in 1949 by Dr. Porter Gott. Dr. Gott was one of the first oral surgeons in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He established a practice built on respect, kindness and a commitment to the community. Dr. Gott was joined by Dr. James Driscoll in 1981. The two surgeons dedicated themselves to serving the community and making themselves available to all the surrounding hospitals. They were a “win-win team.” Dr. Gott retired in the late 1980’s.

In June of 2004, Dr. Todd Sawisch partnered with Dr. Driscoll to become the third generation of the most established oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Broward County. Dr. Driscoll retired in 2007. Today, Dr. Sawisch is honored to remain the owner and surgical director of South Florida Oral & Facial Surgery, Dental Implant Center.

Dr. Sawisch moved the practice to our current facility in June 2011. Our primary goal with our current facility was to eliminate the intimidating feeling of traditional dental or medical office. The relaxing, spa-like atmosphere will surround you from the moment you step foot in our reception area and throughout your visit to our practice.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions.

At South Florida Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental Implant Center our surgeons practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to facial reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.

What Sets Periodontists Apart

Periodontists receive extensive training, including three years of additional education beyond dental school. The American Dental Association recognizes periodontics as one of the nine specialties of dentistry. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease and in the placement and maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists are experts in the treatment of all forms of periodontal disease, including gingivitis, periodontitis, and gingival recession.

South Florida Oral & Facial Surgery, Dental Implant Center provides a variety of therapies for the treatment of periodontal diseases. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are conservative in our treatment recommendations and use the most up to date technology for the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases.
