Dr. Stanley Stewart

Dr. Stanley Stewart was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1941. He was raised and educated in New York City where he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hunter College. He attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and graduated with a D.M.D. degree in 1967.
Following dental school graduation, Dr. Stewart served two years active duty in the United States Army as a General Dental Officer. He received his advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Jewish Hospital and Medical Center of Brooklyn and its Greenpoint affiliate.
Dr. Stewart is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also board certified by the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Stewart has practiced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Tamarac and Plantation, Florida with Dr. Lanny Garvar since 1975. He is a past president of the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and received that society’s prestigious Committee Man of the Year Award, as well as its Presidents Award an unprecedented two times. Dr. Stewart is also a past president of the Florida Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation as a Dental Anesthesia Consultant from the Florida Board of Dentistry for his principal role in researching and writing the anesthesia permitting rules for the Florida State Board of Dentistry. He is on the surgical staff of four of our local hospitals and has served on many hospital committees at these hospitals.
Dr. Stewart’s many other professional memberships include the American Dental Association, Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Florida Dental Association, Broward County Dental Association, Florida Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the Academy of Osteointegration, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the American College of Oral Implantology, and is an assistant clinical professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine.
