DOT Therapy
About "DOT Therapy" Transform Yourself….Laugh lines, crow's feet, brown spots, and wrinkles are the dreaded signs of aging, but finally, thanks to the advances in laser skin resurfacing technology, visible aging no longer has to be inevitable. DEKA, a world leader in the manufacturing of medical laser technology, is collaborating with Dr. Todd Sawisch to introduce to the specialty of Cosmetic Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, the UltraSpeed CO2TM laser system, featuring the unique DOT Scanner. “DOT Therapy” (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) is without a doubt the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art technology in laser skin resurfacing on the market today.
The UltraSpeedTM CO2laser DOT system is an FDA approved advanced CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser, manufactured in Italy by DEKA, and distributed in the US by DEKA Laser Technologies, LLC, (headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida) exclusively for the practice of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. The CO2 laser, launched in 1983, is the most common type of laser used for skin resurfacing. The traditional CO2 lasers ablated the entire surface of the skin, resulting in a significant amount of downtime to recover, discomfort for the patient and prolonged redness of the skin. Furthermore, CO2 lasers have had contraindicated use for the treatment of the neck and décolletage due to the risk of potential scarring and the inability to produce the desired outcome. Furthermore, CO2 lasers have had contraindicated use for the treatment of the neck and décolletage due to the risk of potential scarring and the inability to produce the desired outcome. “DOT Therapy” is taking laser skin resurfacing to an entirely new level. The new technology precisely delivers CO2 laser energy to targeted areas on the face and/or neck. The procedure effectively treats sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scarring. Unlike previous skin resurfacing CO2 lasers, the “DOT” system is unique; it ablates a customized pattern of tiny, micro-sized dots, rather than the entire skin surface, as traditional lasers do. This process allows for quicker healing of the ablated skin, with relatively no pain to the patient.
After a “DOT Therapy” procedure, thousands of microscopic perforations stimulate new collagen growth to improve skin's texture and tone. “DOT Therapy” leaves the skin around each of the perforations intact, allowing the epidermis to regenerate, resulting in a more youthful appearance.
The results are extraordinary and the downtime is minimal. Patients can receive a treatment on a Friday and be back to work on Monday looking radiant and youthful.
